This opportunity offers a hybrid schedule and requires working onsite from Tuesday through Thursday.
The Senior Accountant, reporting to the Director of Accounting, will oversee key financial operations with a strong emphasis on accuracy and compliance. This highly collaborative role involves general ledger management, financial reporting, investment and grant accounting, budgeting, audits, and process enhancements.
Key Responsibilities:
Complete monthly reconciliations of general ledger accounts
Record and post journal entries related to investments, payroll, fixed assets, accruals, prepaid expenses, and receivables
Prepare accurate and timely financial statements (quarterly and annual), including the balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement, and accompanying footnotes
Reconcile bank and credit card accounts monthly
Manage and process accounts payable with precision and efficiency
Create and issue intercompany accounts receivable invoices
Monitor and reconcile grant activity, ensuring proper journal entries are recorded
Maintain comprehensive records of investment documentation, including regular receipt tracking for statements and tax reports
Handle the preparation and authorization of periodic wire transfers for investments
Generate annual 1099 forms, use tax/property tax filings, and assist in preparing not-for-profit tax returns
Process employee expense reimbursements in line with policy
Ensure all financial records are securely maintained and organized
Contribute to improving internal accounting processes and controls
Research and resolve accounting issues in compliance with GAAP standards
Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline strongly preferred
Minimum of 5-7 years of professional accounting experience, ideally in nonprofit organizationsFamiliarity with accounting for alternative/private equity investments
