Florida Coastal School of Law Commencement Highlights
Coastal Law’s Spring 2016 Commencement Ceremony was held on May 14th, at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena. Of the 303 graduates, 273 were conferred to Juris Doctor and 40 to LL.M. in U.S. Law and Logistics & Transportation. (full story below)
Coastal Law’s Spring 2016 Commencement Ceremony was held on May 14th, at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena. Of the 303 graduates, 273 were conferred to Juris Doctor and 40 to LL.M. in U.S. Law and Logistics & Transportation.

Ira Coats, Jr., student commencement speaker, reflected on his years at Coastal Law and thanked friends and family for their support on behalf of his fellow graduates.

More than 50% of the J.D. graduates completed 50 or more pro bono hours – more than 28,000 hours in total and the following awards were received:
  • Barbara McCalla Memorial Award – Evy Louise Eschbacher
  • Jerome Kermit Coble Award for Distinguished Public Service – Joshua Barfield
  • Phyllis Stansell Ethics and Professionalism Award – Perry Russell
  • The Florida Coastal School of Law Student Recognition Award - Ira Fitzgerald Coats, Jr.
  • The Florida Coastal School of Law Founders Award – Cassandra Klusmeyer
  • James A. Richter Humanitarian Service Award – Benjamin Charlick

Michael Huyghue, sports lawyer and president of a Jacksonville-based sports management and consulting agency, was the commencement speaker.
