Touro University in Nevada recently made a new announcement inviting students to learn about their Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine program.
The DO program prepares students to become outstanding osteopathic physicians who uphold the values, philosophy and practice of osteopathic medicine. The College advances the osteopathic profession while serving its students and society through innovative education, active community involvement, and a focus on public health and translational research.
Touro University offers an innovative curriculum with pedagogy based on increase active learning and vertical integration, aligning the basic and clinical sciences with the osteopathic philosophy; in addition, the curriculum superimposes an inter-professional, community-centered model with the goal to produce the physician for tomorrow, today.
The program has been recognized nationally, receiving a 2010 US News and World Report ranking of 10th in the nation, for placing graduates into primary care residencies. Our renowned programs offer students opportunities to study at approved Touro affiliate sites in Tanzania, Ethiopia, Taiwan, Bolivia and Israel. Research focused on a bench to the bedside to the public emphasis also underscores our commitment to investigate societal concerns in areas such as obesity, metabolic disorders, diabetes, cardiovascular disease and HIV.
STUDENTS WILL:
Attend medical school classes
Participate in small group activities
Interact with faculty and currentosteopathic medical students
Observe an Osteopathic Manipulative
Medicine (OMM) demonstration
Learn how to apply and be competitive for medical school
