Kara Willlis is Miss Prairie View A&M University 2008-09 (10237 hits)

An exuberant smile and loud cheers began the reign of Miss Prairie View A&M University's 2008-09, Kara Willis, a 21- year-old junior agriculture economics major from Houston, Texas. The pageant was held April 16 in the Opal Johnson Smith Auditorium with the theme "Purple Reign: A Glimpse Into Royalty." Kara is a graduate of Jersey Village High School. Kara Willis, performed and original monologue – The Prairie View Spirit –depicting three staunch supporters of the principles of the university and the significant examples they created for the students. Willis won best swimsuit and the title after four rounds of competition. Kara is a member of the Student Government Association, Frederick Douglass Leadership Institute, PALs, PVAMU Pre Alumni Association and the Region IV Regional Vice President of the National Society for Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources and Related Sciences (MANNRS). In reflecting on the pageant, Willis said, "This experience was so exhilarating. The contestants were so wonderful; I look forward to a grand new year." Kara graciously traded place with Jamie L. Jackson, Miss PVAMU 2007-08. Kara is the daughter of Miles and Linda Willis of Jersey Village. Posted By: Frederick Roberts
