Motown Museum grows again: New Esther Gordy Edwards Centre houses music, research spaces (284 hits)
Amid a milestone 40th anniversary year for the Motown Museum, the Detroit institution is set to unveil a $10 million facility dedicated to the visionary who started it all.
The Esther Gordy Edwards Centre for Excellence — on West Grand Boulevard a few blocks from the historic Hitsville, U.S.A. — will be christened in honor of museum founder Edwards, the late sister of Motown Records founder Berry Gordy.
The facility will host a first-look event later this month for Motown alumni and museum partners. It is distinct from the ongoing $75 million expansion on the museum’s main campus.
