In 1993, the University expanded graduate and undergraduate programs. In 1997, undergraduate programs in international business, life sciences, medical sciences, pre-medical and pre-veterinary medicine were enhanced. The School of Veterinary Medicine was ascertained in 1999, as a part of University's Department of Public Health and Preventive Medicine.
The campus of St. George's university is spread in the area of 42 acres. The university has 65 buildings with outstanding infrastructure. The campus at St. George's university maintains a beautiful black sand beach which is known as Mandem beach.
St. George's university was founded on 23 July 1976 py the parliament of the country and the medical classes at the university started in the year 1977.
In 1979 there were enrolled 630 students in the university. Int he year 1983 the US government launched the Operation urgent fury as a result of which the classes were moved to Long Island, New York, New Jersey and Barbados for temporary purpose till 1984.
In 2004, due to hurricane response, the students were again temporarily moved to the United States.
The St. George's University offers Doctor of medicine degree which can be earned individually or as a part of the dual program with Master of public health, Master of business administration, Master of Science and Bachelor of science.
The students seeking a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine can get the degree individually or with the above-mentioned programs as well. Moreover, the school of arts and science offers bachelors degree and the students can get the degree MSc, MBA, PdD through graduate studies programs.
