Alcorn State University baseball head coach Reggie Williams and the Braves are geared up to showcase what they have been working on in the off season. The team has a schedule that reflects their readiness to make a run for the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Baseball Championship.
Alcorn will start the season in the 2024 Cactus Jack Classic in Houston, Texas from Feb. 14-18. In the Classic, the Braves will be competing against other historically black colleges and universities as they highlight their institutions and baseball programs. After their Houston trip, the team will head to San Antonio to face the University of the Incarnate Word from Feb. 23-25.
The Braves will open SWAC play on the road from March 1-3 against Jackson State University. The team will return home and host Southeastern Louisiana University (SLU) in the William E. "Rat" McGowan Stadium on March 5 at 6 p.m. Southern University of New Orleans comes to Lorman for a three-game series from March 8-10. Alcorn's second SWAC weekend series will be at home against Grambling State University from March 15-17.
The Braves will travel to Laurel, Miss. to play Southeastern Baptist University on March 19 at 4 p.m. Mississippi Valley State University will make a trip to face the Braves in a hump day match up on March 20 at 4 p.m. After those single games, fans can enjoy a three-game series at home in McGowan Stadium against Southern University from March 22-24.
Alcorn State will travel to the Mid-South for a three-game series with the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff from March 28-30. The team will then head to Lake Charles, La. for two games against McNeese State University from Apr. 2-3. The Braves will continue on the road heading to Grambling State for a three-game series from Apr. 5-7.
The team will return home to go head-to-head with Southeastern Baptist College on Apr. 9 at 6 p.m. After this contest, the Braves will head to Itta Bena, Miss. for a midweek matchup with Mississippi Valley State on Apr. 10 at 4 p.m. Alcorn returns home from Apr. 12-14 to face Prairie View A&M University. ASU will then travel to Starkville, Miss. for a contest with Mississippi State University on Apr. 16 at 6 p.m.
The Braves will be at Texas Southern University for a three-game series from Apr. 19-21. Alcorn will return a trip to SLU in Hammond, La. for a two-game series from Apr. 23-24. The team will come back home and host Arkansas-Pine Bluff from Apr. 26-28. ASU will travel to Monroe, La. to face University of Louisiana at Monroe on May 1 at 6 p.m. After that game, the team will travel to south Louisiana for a three-game stretch with Southern from May 3-5.
Alcorn will host Texas Southern for three games from May 10-12 and travel to Lamar University on May 14 for a 6 p.m. first pitch. The Braves will close out the regular season against Prairie View A&M with a three-game series from May 16-18.
