Officials optimistic for research potential with HBCU Rise Act (2125 hits)

A federal effort to spur greater research investment in Historically Black Colleges and Universities will have a profound impact on Maryland. U.S. Sen. Chris Van Hollen, D-Maryland, stopped by Morgan State University on Monday to highlight the enactment of bipartisan legislation he helped enact to boost research opportunities at HBCUs, particularly Morgan State University and the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore. The HBCU Rise Act is part of the fiscal year 2023 National Defense Authorization Act. A provision in that act calls for a program to help HBCUs reach high research activity status.
