The Mary Schmidt Campbell, Ph.D., Center for Innovation & the Arts Fireside Chat (42 hits)
Check out this video from Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia! On April 25, 2022, Mary Schmidt Campbell, Ph.D., 10th president of Spelman College, hosted a fireside chat to share insight on the architectural designs and program plans for the College’s new Center for Innovation & the Arts.
The fireside chat featured award-winning architect Jeanne Gang, FAIA, a MacArthur Fellow and founder of Studio Gang, the architectural firm responsible for designing the Center for Innovation & the Arts, and Ayoka Chenzira, Ph.D., professor, and division chair for the arts.
An award-winning filmmaker, Dr. Chenzira led Spelman's Arts@Spelman Steering Committee, and produced the Arts@Spelman White Paper, which helped the College reimagine the role of a 21st-century arts education within the context of the liberal arts institution.
Upon its completion in 2024, the Center will include space for all of the College's creative disciplines including art, art history, curatorial studies, documentary filmmaking, photography, music, theater and performance.
