Lauren LaVelle
Lauren LaValle is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Edgar Stennis and Mr. & Mrs. Lawrence LaValle. She is a senior at Alabama A&M University on a presidential leadership scholarship. She is majoring in early childhood/elementary education. Throughout her years at AAMU, she has participated in several organizations, including the Student Government Association; Alpha Kappa Mu National Honor Society; NAACP; Miss Black and Gold for Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc, Delta Gamma Chapter; the Greater St. Louis Student Association; and volunteer, Hope for Success. She attends Union Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Huntsville, Ala. Some of her many honors and achievements include Dean’s List and Honor Roll recipient for all of her years at A&M and “Junior of the Year.” Her hobbies include dancing, acting, and singing.
After graduation, Miss LaValle plans to attend graduate school and obtain her master’s and doctorate degrees in child psychology. While at home in St. Louis, Mo., she dances with Best Talent Center and performs at various functions around the St. Louis metropolitan area. She also attends Lane Tabernacle C.M.E. Church, where she participates in the mime ministry.
Her philosophy on life is: “Life is whatever you make of it; nothing is certain or etched in stone. Every aspect of life relies on you, the decisions you make, and the goals you have.” Her motto is: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”- Philippians 4:13.
