Tianna Stith, Miss Fisk University (8368 hits)

Hometown: Houston

Year in School: Senior

Major/Minor: Biology/PreMed

Expected Graduation: 2016

Extracurricular Activities: Every week I volunteer at the Sarah Cannon Cancer Center in Nashville, Tennessee where I help health professionals tend to the patients. I also am a tutor for reading clinics at local elementary schools in the Nashville area.

Leisure Activities: My biggest enjoyment and stress reliever is exercise. I enjoy anything that involves working out or being outdoors. Cycling and hiking have been my favorite past times. I recently picked up kickboxing. I also enjoy listening to poetry/spoken word and attending art shows.

Career Goals: Living a healthy lifestyle is something that I am passionate about and want to advocate to others, especially minorities. I aspire to become a physician who specializes in Infectious Diseases or Oncology. Also, I want to travel the world contributing to medical missionaries and eventually build a clinic overseas in an undeserved country.

What is your most memorable contribution as a Campus Queen?: The position of a Campus Queen is one that I believe is far from being about the attention that the Queen herself receives. "The Quest" is about being anchored in service and that has been my contribution throughout my reign. Service and empowering others is what adds value to being Queen. My "Quest to Queendom Starter Kit" was a women empowerment challenge that was centered on a week's worth of tasks that would encourage female students at Fisk to recognize their true beauty, strength, and growth. The winner received a package of all the essentials that women should have, including a skirt, blazer, and pearl set. Revitalizing "Christmas at Fisk" is the project I'm currently working on with the Royal Court, in which we are going door to door to invite families to participate by having their children complete a wish list and attend the event to be presented with gifts from their list. This has been one of the most sincere and humbling experiences of my reign. Through this project, I have realized that service goes beyond hosting consecutive programs, rather it is about making a conscientious decision to help others recognize and potentially reach their fullest potential. Taking the time to show them that the crown does not define me or my character, because my character is defined through my passion to serve, inspire, and build bridges for future generations.
