Extracurricular Activities: A senior Biology major/Education minor, CarShandra also jumps high as a RAM cheerleader, shows off her green thumb in Green is the New Black; a member of Kappa Omicron Tau Division, the College Guidance Group of the National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, Inc.; Student National Medical Association; Golden Key International Honour Society; Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society in Education; Boss Up (B.U.) Austin Teen Outreach Program; Student Government Association; a member of Pre-Alumni; a member of the Susan G. Komen Foundation, Austin; and is the first and only recipient of the Tom Joyner Teacher Quality Initiative Scholarship Program at Huston-Tillotson University.

Career Goals: Upon completing her undergraduate studies, CarShandra will pursue a Masters of Education from Texas Christian University and a PhD. in Educational Leadership. She believes every child deserves an equitable education, regardless of socioeconomic or cultural differences. CarShandra intends to use her passion for education in the classroom as an educator. In 2015, CarShandra experienced the tragic loss of three family members to cancer, including a cousin who lost his battle with lymphoma cancer of the heart at the age of 35. As a result, she has decided to use her platform as Miss Huston-Tillotson University to launch C.H.A.I.N. B. - Changing Hearts and Implementing New Beginnings; a support group for cancer survivors and their families. CarShandra believes it is her duty as a student leader to work in collaboration with organizations such as; Susan G. Komen, Austin, the African-American Alliance and the Sisters Network to raise cancer awareness in her community and provide access to the necessary resources as the fight for a cure continues.

What is your most memorable contribution as a Campus Queen?: CarShandra's most memorable contribution as Campus Queen has been developing a partnership with the Susan G. Komen Foundation (Austin). Through this partnership, CarShandra received a $10,000 grant to re-launch Circle of Promise, a student led organization tasked with bringing cancer awareness to young adults between the ages of 15-24 who are most likely to be diagnosed with cancer.
