A graduate of Hampton University, Ruth E. Carter has worked as a costume designer for Spike Lee movies such as "School Daze", "Do the Right Thing", "Jungle Fever" and "Chi-raq". She has also designed costumes for movies such as "I Spy", "Love and Basketball", "Against the Ropes, and most recently "Four Brothers", "Serenity", "Dolemite Is My Name". She has also been nominated for two Oscars for "Malcolm X" and "Amistad". Carter would make Oscar history by being the first African American costume designer to win Best Costume Design for her work on "Black Panther." She would also take home the Oscar again for her work on the sequel, "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever."
